Lab Grown Diamond & Premium Moissanite Earrings

Moissanite and lab diamond earrings are a beautiful and sustainable alternative to traditional diamond earrings. These stunning gems are not only visually indistinguishable from mined diamonds, but also offer a range of benefits that make them a popular choice for many consumers.

One of the key benefits of moissanite and lab diamond earrings is their environmental impact. By using 100% recycled gold or platinum settings, these earrings are a more sustainable choice compared to traditional diamond earrings. Additionally, lab diamonds are created in a controlled environment using energy-efficient processes, making them a more eco-friendly choice.

Lab diamonds and moissanite are also an ethical choice. Traditional diamond mining is often associated with unethical practices, such as child labor and environmental destruction. By choosing lab grown gems, you can ensure that your earrings are conflict-free and ethically sourced.

This beautiful collection features our Ethica Diamond®, which is our signature moissanite. These gems offer the same toughness and longevity as diamonds and have the additional benefit of being considerably less expensive. They are also independently certified, to international standards by the GRI or IGI.

All of our moissanite earrings with smaller stones in the halo or accented designs are set using the highest quality E/F colour VS1 clarity laboratory grown diamond melée which adds an additional carat weight to your chosen Ethica Diamond centre gem.

Ethica Diamonds are produced using an exclusive patented technology and made from premium grade moissanite with a lab diamond infusion. They are cut and fully faceted to exact diamond proportions and possess incredible depth and realism, radiating sparkle and brilliance comparable to the most expensive diamonds that will last forever.
We stock these stones at consistent E colour, VVS1 clarity and excellent cut so all Ethica Diamonds have these specifications.

In terms of quality, both moissanite and lab diamonds are stunning gems that offer excellent clarity, brilliance, and fire. Both options that we offer at Ethica are independently graded by reputable organisations like IGI and GIA, giving you peace of mind about the quality of your earrings.

When it comes to style, moissanite and lab diamond earrings offer a versatile range of options to suit any taste. From vintage inspired designs with intricate details to modern and minimalist styles, there is something for everyone. Halo earrings feature a centre stone surrounded by smaller gems, adding extra sparkle and glamour. Simple solitaire earrings highlight the beauty of the gemstone with a clean and classic design. For special occasions, dressy earrings with multiple stones or intricate settings provide a sophisticated and elegant look.

Whether you prefer a timeless and understated look or want to make a statement with bold and eye-catching earrings, moissanite and lab diamond options have you covered. With the added benefit of being more affordable than traditional diamond earrings, you can enjoy the beauty and brilliance of these gems without breaking the bank.

Overall, moissanite and lab diamond earrings offer a stunning and sustainable alternative to traditional diamond earrings. With their ethical and environmental benefits, as well as their exceptional quality and beautiful designs, they are a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a stylish and responsible jewellery option.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is moissanite?

Moissanite, also known as silicon carbide, is an alternative to diamonds which has very similar visual and physical properties. It is usually lab grown using high heat and pressure which causes gases introduced around a seed of silicon carbide to crystallise and deposit layers which build up to form a moissanite.

At Ethica, the moissanite we use is the Ethica Diamond®, our signature gemstone grown using exclusive patented technology. A premium grade moissanite is infused with diamond to create a strong and durable gemstone with more fire and brilliance than a diamond. They are made to a consistent high grade, VVS1 clarity, D-E colour.

The Ethica Diamond® is the finest quality moissanite currently available on the market produced under patented technology and certified by a trusted third party.

How is a lab grown diamond made?

Lab grown diamonds, also known as synthetic or cultured diamonds, are created through a process called chemical vapour deposition (CVD) or high pressure high temperature (HPHT) methods.

In the CVD method, a small diamond seed is placed in a sealed chamber and heated to extreme temperatures. Methane gas is then introduced into the chamber, and a microwave plasma is created using high energy microwaves. The plasma breaks down the methane gas, releasing carbon atoms that accumulate on the diamond seed, layer by layer, over a period of several weeks or months. This process allows the carbon atoms to arrange themselves in the crystal lattice structure, replicating the conditions necessary for the formation of a natural diamond.

On the other hand, the HPHT method involves placing a small diamond seed in a press and subjecting it to extremely high temperatures and pressures, similar to those found deep within the Earth's mantle where natural diamonds are formed. A mixture of graphite and metal catalyst is introduced, and the press exerts pressure ranging from 5 to 6 GigaPascals, while the temperature exceeds 1500 degrees Celsius. This combination transforms the graphite into a diamond, and the seed acts as a foundation for the crystal to grow.

Both methods result in the growth of a lab grown diamond, with the CVD method typically producing higher-quality and more pure diamonds. The final diamond is then cut and polished using conventional techniques, resulting in a finished lab-grown diamond that is visually and chemically identical to a natural diamond.

Here at Ethica, all of our lab diamonds are grown using the CVD method to a high type IIA standard, consistent D-E colour, VVS quality.

Is moissanite worth buying?

Moissanite is a popular alternative to diamonds due to its brilliance, durability, and affordability. It is definitely worth considering if you are looking for a diamond alternative that offers similar qualities at a lower price point.

Moissanite is nearly as hard as diamonds, ranks higher on the refractive index scale for brilliance, and typically costs much less than diamonds of the same size and quality. Ultimately, whether moissanite is worth buying depends on your personal preferences, budget, and style. The Ethica Diamond, which is our signature gemstones, offer the same toughness and longevity as diamonds and have the additional benefit of being considerably less expensive. They are also independently certified, to international standards by the GRI or IGI.

What are the benefits of moissanite compared to diamond?

Moissanite is a type of gemstone that closely resembles the appearance of a diamond but is actually a distinct mineral. In terms of appearance, moissanite can look very similar to a diamond, with its brilliance and sparkle.

1. Appearance: Moissanite has a similar sparkle and brilliance to diamonds, making it visually indistinguishable to the naked eye. It is also highly refractive, giving it a stunning fire and brilliance.

2. Durability: Moissanite is almost as hard as diamonds, ranking 9.25 on the Mohs scale of hardness, making it suitable for everyday wear and resistant to scratches and chips.

3. Affordability: Moissanite is typically more affordable than diamonds, making it a budget-friendly option for those looking for a beautiful, high-quality gemstone without the high price tag.

4. Ethical concerns: Moissanite is a lab-created gemstone, meaning it is an environmentally friendly and conflict-free alternative to diamonds, which can be associated with ethical concerns related to mining practices.

5. Variety: Moissanite comes in a range of shapes and sizes, giving consumers a wide selection to choose from for their jewelry pieces.

Overall, moissanite is a great alternative to diamonds for those looking for a stunning, durable, and ethical option without breaking the bank.
